They've played very well defensively all year and have improved offensively as the season progressed (they were fairly terrible on offense at the beginning of the year). They've done very well in close games; they remain poised and generally make the plays they need to win.

Florida has a nice balance of inside/outside productivity, but their talent level isn't going to blow anyone away. The loss to Kentucky was more about how well Kentucky played, and the fact that the Wildcats are more talented.

Based on what I've seen of Florida this year, I would give them a strong shot to get to the Elite Eight. I think the second round game against either MSU or UCLA would give them more problems than a game against BYU or Gonzaga.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-516125508735224982011-03-15T16:03:51.614-04:002011-03-15T16:03:51.614-04:00Craig, I did forget to take Frank Martin's ang...Craig, I did forget to take Frank Martin's anger. Seriously, though, this wouldn't be my bracket if it didn't include at least one horrible elite 8 pick that loses right away. Their defense, even in a crappy conference, is super solid though. I guess we'll see. I just looked it up, and they came close to beating Illinois and Marquette in '08 and '09. And their defense has never been this good.

Lisa, sorry! I don't consider you either Cliff Lee or an annoying basketball team.

-ShaneAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-16295395830050724772011-03-15T13:12:45.768-04:002011-03-15T13:12:45.768-04:00Never bet against a Badger Badger Badger Badger......Never bet against a Badger Badger Badger Badger...SNAKE SNAKE!- GBAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-33631116435717132992011-03-15T13:12:39.422-04:002011-03-15T13:12:39.422-04:00Shane, I must respectfully disagree with your Utah...Shane, I must respectfully disagree with your Utah State call. Utah State's record over the last 10 seasons is approximately 3192-17. They routinely win 25 games a season against the likes of Louisiana Tech and San Jose State. They haven't won a NCAA tourney game since 2001. Coach Stew Morrill is 0-6 in the tourney and 1-6 in the NIT. I think you have to look at their metrics with a grain of salt- they lost their only two true nonconference challenges (at GTown and at BYU) before blowing through their conference schedule.

And there are more practical considerations to look at in the K-State/U-State matchup, such as the very real possibility that Frank Martin threatened to murder the families of everyone on his team if they lose in the first round.

-Craig J.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-26625094104956465202011-03-15T10:57:50.266-04:002011-03-15T10:57:50.266-04:00Only two things come Arkansas: Cliff Lee and annoy...Only two things come Arkansas: Cliff Lee and annoying basketball teams.

HEY!

~LisaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
