The way they play...I'm not blaming the Celtics. The way they play is symptomatic of the bigger problem with the NBA, and lord knows the vast majority of NBA teams play exactly the same. They just happen to be better thugs than most others. The Magic are lesser thugs; so they lose.

I was perhaps too harsh on Rondo. If there's another fun player on the Celts, it's definitely him.

The Celts are representatives of the modern NBA, which is predominantly boring and grueling. You know what the best thing was about the mid-90s Knicks? They never won. And I'm a Knicks fan. But their style has been elevated into an art form by teams like the Celtics, and now the descendants are winning titles. It sucks.

It seems strange to describe an NBA game as "slow," since all the athletes are really fast and quick, but that's how it feels. Games are so physical that refs can determine the outcome based on how they want to interpret the game, and the biggest, meanest bodies seem to win the day.

Frankly, I'm not interested. Have fun watching Perkins thug it up, Garnett scream at fans and opponents and cameras, Pierce attempt to stay awake. Maybe they'll thug their way to another title. But nobody cares.

-SAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-30803608046323180562010-05-19T10:03:14.697-04:002010-05-19T10:03:14.697-04:00If "fun" is your definition of a good ba...If "fun" is your definition of a good basketball team, then why do you love Duke so much? I am a Duke grad and fan but they certainly weren't as "fun" as Kentucky, Kansas, and a whole host of other teams. You need to take off the blinders when analyzing the Celtics and remove your Boston and KG hatred that has seeped into your analysis. Just because you're a sore loser the Red Sox beat up on pork chop face and the the mariano blown saves gave you nightmares about 2004 again, doesn't mean you need to take it out on the Celtics who are a very good and throwback NBA team!!!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03667242894071850296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5974487880746995076.post-50081493157234267372010-05-19T09:59:46.711-04:002010-05-19T09:59:46.711-04:00your boston bias is clouding your views on the cel...your boston bias is clouding your views on the celtics...someone who loves college basketball should love the celtics. The celtics are the only team in the league that is truly a team, with no designated star, passing and sharing the ball well, playing hard D all the time, not taking plays off. If you watched the whole game yesterday (which I HIGHLY doubt given your long analysis on sox-yanks), you would know that Rondo hit multiple BIG jump shots and has vastly improved his shooting over the last few years. If you can't appreciate a true pass first point guard, who is 23 and has worked hard to become a better shooter, and even gets dirty and mixes it up with the big boys, how can you call yourself a basketball fan?

The knicks were thugs with 2 go to guys, one of whom was just a chuck guard, and the other a huge asshole. Comparing the Celtics to them shows your lack of knowledge regarding the NBA today - likely bc you don't watch much of it - which is why this SHOULD be the last paragraph you write about the NBA if this is the kind of drivel you are going to write.

And yes, for all of you who don't know me, you're damn right I am a biased Celtic fan.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03667242894071850296noreply@blogger.com
