2. Last week, I had a soccer essay go up on Run of Play. The site is run by Brian Phillips, an unbelievable writer whose recent Wimbledon pieces are must-reads. A similar version ran in this blog previously, but I took it out once I knew it was going on RoP.

ReplyDeleteI've never been more proud of myself in my life. This eclipses everything else, charging the beach at Normandy, bringing down the Berlin Wall, blowing the whistle on Enron. None of those accolades compare to this. I'm so awestruck I can't even pretend to make funny jokes.

Shane, why doesn't grantland have comments? I'm reading the Game of Throne books (technically "a song of ice and fire" books) based on a friends recommendation. I haven't been into the fantasy genre for a good many years, but it's actually quite good through the first 3. I'm just starting to watch the show and it definitely helps to know who the heck everyone is. i've binged a bit on 5 episodes in 3 days. -John

Speaking of Santiago, I was always amazed that this school out in West Texas always had an abundance of black players, but never seemed to have any Hispanic ones.
