.500 gets 100

Yessirs and Yeslades, the Yanks have arrived at the point in the season where simply playing .500 ball will guarantee them 100 wins on the season. This is more or less "dormie," in match play golf terms (everyone understands things better through match play golf). The question now is, how much rest does Girardi give the big guns?

*Jorge Posada hit his 20th home run last night, making him the seventh Yankee to reach that total. That ties the major league record, set by the Orioles, Rangers, and Blue Jays in the past 15 years. Derek Jeter is at 17. If he can hit three more, we'll have the record.

*College football kicked off last night. In the big match-up, Boise State trampled Oregon, and then the Oregon RB clocked someone after the game.

Oregon: still the most violent state.

Running on end-of-the-week fumes today, so I'm gonna sign off. No blog Monday because of the holiday. Take 'er easy.
